Keeping Your Stainless Steel Sink Clean

Stainless steel sinks bring a contemporary flair to a kitchen or bath. Easy-to-clean and sanitize, these sinks aren't only fashionable, but practical. A well-cared for stainless steel sink can last for many years. However, if you don't care for it properly, it may become scuffed and dull-looking. You can easily keep your stainless steel sink shiny by taking a little extra time and exerting just a little extra effort when cleaning the sink.

Instructions

things you'll need

  • Baking soda
  • Bowl
  • Water
  • Spoon
  • Soft cloths
  • Baby oil (mineral oil)
  • Paper towels

    • Measure out 1 cup of baking soda into a bowl. Add warm water, stirring it in with a spoon until the baking soda and water combination is a fine paste consistency.
    • Dip one corner of a soft cloth into the baking soda paste. Gently rub this over the sink, in the direction of the sink's grain. Do this to the entire sink, reapplying more baking soda paste to the cloth as necessary.
    • Rinse the sink out with warm water. Rub it dry with a clean cloth.
    • Pour a few drops of baby oil into the sink. Spread it around over the surface with a clean cloth. Wipe it with paper towels until you polish it to a high shine. Repeat the baking soda paste and baby oil cleaning and polishing process once a week to keep up the shine.
