Top 10 New Plumbing Trends

Think plumbing is low tech? Guess again. I have compiled my top 10 list of the most popular plumbing trends. Everything from a IPOD style Shower controller to a toilet seat that helps you clean up with a shot of warm aerated water. Try some of these new plumbing innovations and you will find that you "can't live with out them".

1. Quiet Close Toilet Seats: This neat little invention is a must in my household. Just a gentle touch on the seat and it slowly closes. One drawback: You get so used to this that when staying at relatives or in a hotel you will find your self slamming the toilet seat down by mistake. Link to DPO's Toilet Seats

2. Watertile Body Sprays: These unique Body-sprays are manufactured by Kohler and they differ from traditional body sprays in that they are close to being flush to the wall. They do not intrude into your showering space and they look much better and more modern than the standard body sprays.
Kohler also makes them in a bank of 4 that is named the water tile rain. This unit can be installed overhead for a drenching experience. Link to DPO's Watertiles

3. Tankless Hot water Heaters: Small and compact and they save a ton of money. You can feel a little bit green by saving energy while wasting water in your carwash shower. We do not currently sell these the tankless hotwater heaters. However, we will be adding them soon.

4. Air Bath Roman Tubs: The conventional jetted tub that pumps the water through pipes is on it's way out. You may have noticed the black junk that comes out of the pipes after not using your tub for a few weeks. The new air baths eliminate this potentially unsanitary condition. The water does not sit in the pipes and air is injected into the water.

5. Kohler DTV shower system: Kohler makes the list again with their innovative DTV system. This system combines a Ipod like interface with a electronically controlled thermostatic shower valve. Set a theme and have your watertiles come on for 5 minutes, your rain style shower head for 5 minutes, your hand-shower for another 5 minutes and finish off with your traditional showerhead. I'm hoping they add a set to music feature so I can have my own personal Bellagio Show in my shower.

6. Touch-less Faucets: Great for your kids bath and coming soon to your kitchen. Ever think about the germs left on your faucet handles? These electronic faucets allow you to keep your faucet clean and your hands cleaner by never touching the faucet.

7. Faucets with a waterfall or water features. These faucets show the water running waterfall or fountain like over the faucet. Great look and impressive in a powder room.

8. Custom Shower Packages: Packages configured with handshowers, bodysprays, showerheads, etc.. Traditional custom showers made you go through the work of designing the systems. Now Kohler and Moen both offer their most popular showering components in pre-configured packages

9. Bathroom Furniture: Using Furniture as a vanity in a powder room. For the last few years, designers have been buying old furniture and converting them into bathroom vanities with a sink and a faucet. The manufactures have picked up on this trend and many now offer pre-configured units with the furniture, sink, and faucet all combined or available for purchase.

10. Bidet Toilet Seats: Once again our Japanese friends have started a cleanliness trend. Heated water is piped to a water nozzle these cleans the user with warm aerated water. We have one in our home and absolutely love it.  Call for more details 651-451-2775!
