Have you got a lot scrap PVC pipes stashed in the house? Are you planning to throw them away? Maybe there are other ways to make them useful around the house instead of dumping them. Well that’s exactly what you’re going to find out today. You’ll actually be surprised at what other things you can do with your scrap PVC pipes and you’ll be helping the environment too.
For Storage And Organizing
Just cap one end of the pipe and put in whatever you want to organize. It can be screws, nails, bolts or anything of the like. You can also cut the pipe according to your desired length to put blueprints or plans. Don’t forget to put a label on the side of the pipe so you’ll know what you’ve stored in it, making it easy when you plan on retrieving the items.
For Cords And Wires
Stray cords and wires can be messy and can be an eyesore. You can run your wires through the pipes to make it look clean as well as professional. You can also use the pipes as rolls to organize wires that you don’t use. This way, when you need them, they are all in one place and neatly arranged.
Make A Time Capsule
PVC pipes can make great time capsules. It’s also a nice way of keeping your memories and leaving something for the kids or the grandchildren to find. They can also help you make one, making for a fun family activity.
For Drapes
Pipes are better compared to curtain rods because they’re sturdier and cheaper as well and since these are scraps, you won’t be spending a dime. Just hide it behind the valance and thread through eye bolts.
For Vacuum Hoses
PVC pipes make a great vacuum hose extension. Attaching a 1½ inch diameter tube to the end of a vacuum hose and securing it with duct tape can help you to reach those high ceilings with ease. It is also much safer than using a ladder or a chair.
Watering A Strawberry Pot
Use a one inch diameter pipe and drill small holes spaced 2 inches apart along the entire length of the tube. Check that the pipe is slightly longer than the pot’s height. Then place the tube vertically in the center of the pot and pack soil around it. When water is poured in the pipe, the water slowly seeps out of the holes to evenly soak all the plants.
To Collect Leaves
You can actually rake leaves into a PVC frame that is clamped to a garbage bag. Basically, the frame keeps the bag open and works similar to a dustpan.
Diverting Water Away From Your House’s Foundation
This is easily accomplished by securing a perforated four inch diameter pipe to the end of the downspout with a coupling. After making sure that it is secure, lay the pipe in a shallow trench lined with plastic sheeting and cover it with gravel.
There are a lot of other things you can do with your PVC pipes. The best way is to be creative enough. A little research can also do wonders. Remember, you are also helping mother nature when you recycle so start today.
